Mais 124 ans auparavant, la <strong>gare du Champ de Mars<\/strong> \u00e9tait d\u00e9j\u00e0 le centre n\u00e9vralgique des transports ferroviaires lors de <strong>l\u2019Expo universelle de 1900<\/strong>, voyant passer plus de <strong>10 millions de voyageurs<\/strong>. C\u2019est aussi l\u2019apog\u00e9e du trafic voyageurs de la Petite Ceinture. Et, \u00e0 ce titre, ils tendent \u00e0 acc\u00e9l\u00e9rer consid\u00e9rablement le <strong>d\u00e9veloppement des transports parisiens<\/strong>\u2026 tout en r\u00e9v\u00e9lant, parfois de mani\u00e8re criante, ses <strong>insuffisances<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">La <strong>premi\u00e8re<\/strong> <strong>Exposition universelle parisienne<\/strong> se tient en <strong>1855<\/strong>, sous l\u2019\u00e9gide de Napol\u00e9on III.&nbsp;Situ\u00e9e sur les <strong>Champs-\u00c9lys\u00e9es<\/strong>, l\u2019Expo est notamment desservie <em>via<\/em> la <a href=\"https:\/\/petiteceinture.org\/la-ligne\/histoire-petite-ceinture\/ligne-dauteuil-rer-c-170-ans-histoire-ferroviaire\/\">ligne d\u2019Auteuil<\/a> et la gare de la <strong>Porte Maillot<\/strong>. Cette derni\u00e8re est d\u2019ailleurs vue graduellement comme un <strong>service <em>m\u00e9tropolitain<\/em><\/strong>. \u00c0 cette fin, un grand nombre de <strong>gares<\/strong> sont <strong>(re)construites<\/strong> pour am\u00e9liorer le service de la Ceinture. On notera&nbsp;particuli\u00e8rement&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>1867<\/strong>&nbsp;: inauguration de la <strong>Petite Ceinture Rive Gauche<\/strong> (Auteuil \u2013 Rap\u00e9e Bercy) et d\u2019un <strong>\u00ab&nbsp;branchement provisoire&nbsp;\u00bb <\/strong>depuis Grenelle et aboutissant au Champ de&nbsp;Mars&nbsp;;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1878<\/strong>&nbsp;: reconstruction de l\u2019embranchement desservant le Champ de Mars, exp\u00e9rimentation de la desserte tous les 1\/4h sur la Petite Ceinture, <strong>ouverture des gares <\/strong>de <a href=\"https:\/\/petiteceinture.org\/gares-petite-ceinture\/avenue-de-saint-ouen\/\">l\u2019Avenue de Saint-Ouen<\/a>, du <a href=\"https:\/\/petiteceinture.org\/gares-petite-ceinture\/boulevard-ornano\/\">Boulevard Ornano<\/a>, de <a href=\"https:\/\/petiteceinture.org\/gares-petite-ceinture\/charonne\/\">Charonne<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/petiteceinture.org\/gares-petite-ceinture\/bel-air-ceinture\/\">Bel-Air-Ceinture<\/a> (1880)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1889<\/strong>&nbsp;: suppression des <strong>passages \u00e0 niveau<\/strong> de la <strong>Petite Ceinture Rive Droite<\/strong>, inauguration de la <strong>ligne des Moulineaux<\/strong> (actuel T2)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>1900<\/strong>&nbsp;: inauguration Puis celui con\u00e7u par l\u2019architecte Juste Lisch (expositions de <strong>1878 et 1889<\/strong>), aujourd\u2019hui \u00e0 l\u2019abandon \u00e0 Asni\u00e8res. Deux gares principales sont con\u00e7ues pour les visiteurs de l\u2019Exposition universelle&nbsp;: celle du Champ de Mars et celle des Invalides. En effet, le <strong>m\u00e9tropolitain<\/strong>, qui a fait l\u2019objet de <strong>50 ans de d\u00e9bats acharn\u00e9s<\/strong> entre les grandes compagnies (soutenues par l\u2019\u00c9tat) et la Ville de Paris, est inaugur\u00e9 le <strong>19 juillet 1900<\/strong>.
